Welcome to the Highland Playschool’s summer program! And this summer, we’re bringing that same spirit of discovery and play to our toddler summer program in Highland, MD — a program packed with exciting theme weeks, water play days, picnic days, and so much more.
Our 2025 Summer Program kicks off on Tuesday, June 3rd, and runs through the end of August. We’ve designed the summer around exciting weekly themes that spark curiosity and creativity, giving children a chance to experience something new every week. Families in and around Highland, MD can count on us to provide a blend of structured activities, hands-on learning, outdoor fun, and plenty of time for children just to be kids.

Each week, your child will dive into a different theme, from exploring the magic of fairytales to celebrating summer sports. Here’s just a taste of what’s coming:
Welcome Summer Week (June 2–6): Kickoff with Sunglasses Day and our very first Water Play Day of the summer.
Down on the Farm (June 9–13): Children bring their favorite farm animal photo and enjoy fun farm-inspired activities.
Aloha, Welcome to Hawaii (June 16–20): Get ready for a luau, Hawaiian shirts, and even a foam party!
Fairytales Week (June 23–27): We’ll crown little princes and princesses and meet Echoes of Nature on Friday.
Let’s Celebrate the USA (June 30–July 4): From picnic day to red, white, and blue outfits, we’ll celebrate America’s birthday in style.
And that’s just the beginning! Our calendar is packed through August with special days like Watermelon Day, Pizza Day, Olympic Day (complete with a Kona Ice truck!), and so much more. With water play days every week, children will stay cool while having a blast under the summer sun.

8:30–9:00 AM: Arrival and free play
9:00–10:00 AM: Morning circle and theme-based activities
10:00–10:30 AM: Snack time
10:30–11:30 AM: Outdoor play / Water play (on designated days)
11:30 AM–12:00 PM: Storytime or music
12:00–1:00 PM: Lunch
1:00–2:30 PM: Nap or quiet time
2:30–3:00 PM: Afternoon snack
3:00–4:30 PM: Afternoon activities and outdoor play
4:30–5:00 PM: Pick-up and free play

Yes! Please send your child with a swimsuit, towel, water shoes, and a change of clothes on water play days.
We ask families to pack lunch and snacks for their children. We do have special snack days during themed weeks, like Pizza Day and Rocket Day.
